My name is Donna, and I am the Patient Care Manager of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Emergency Department, and I am inviting you to join our team.
Our hospital is a 376-bed community teaching hospital situated in west-end Toronto, serving a diverse community of over half a million Canadians. St. Joseph’s Emergency Department (ED) is one of the largest EDs in Ontario with over 97,0000 visits a year. We have a reputation for excellence in patient care and teamwork with respect and compassion.
We take pride in the specialized care we provide for our diverse patient population with expertize and leadership in Critical Care, Stroke, Mental Health, Oncology, Hemodialysis and Pediatrics, amongst harm reduction supports.
As an emergency nurse myself, I came to St. Joseph’s because I wanted to give back to St. Joseph’s what they gave me when I trained here as a student many moons ago: as a teaching hospital we are committed to education and opportunities for learning, this is encouraged through our robust education offerings such an extensive orientation plan, paid Emergency Nurse’s and Critical Care certificates, to mention a few. I know and believe that nurses are the foundation of healthcare and we are committed to supporting our new members to grow and contribute to best care experiences for our patients while ensuring safety and staff wellness.
We have earned this reputation thanks to our extraordinary staff. If you are looking for a work environment of which key values are kindness, professional encouragement and support then St. Joseph’s Hospital, that I have been proud to be part of for the last 10 years, is the right place for you!
Quiet, tree-lined residential streets surround the hospital and the waters of Lake Ontario are visible from the hospital windows, belie the fact that the city center is only 20 to 25 minutes away by car or subway.
We are in the midst of an ambitious redevelopment plan of our new emergency department with a focus on state of art equipment, best practices in staff safety and violence prevention and quality improvement methodologies in patient flow. Our new Yellow Zone opened in October 2022 and provided us with an additional 4000 square feet.
We are looking for individuals that are interested in practicing the full spectrum of emergency nursing!
