The Data Science and Advanced Analytics (DSAA) team at Unity Health Toronto houses a team of Data Scientists devoted to applying data science to advance patient care and health system efficiency at Unity Health Toronto.

The DSAA team at Unity Health Toronto is currently seeking a Research Coordinator II to support the Program Manager with project and organizational administration. Tasks will include ongoing coordination of activities pertaining to DSAA projects, including task and timeline management, project documentation, research ethics applications and literature searches. Other tasks may include coordination of program operations in the areas of research contracts, human resources, finance and procurement, as well as assisting Investigators and the Program Managers with the initiation of new projects and presenting project related information including written project reports where necessary.

The ideal candidate for this position is highly motivated, organized, attentive to detail, and demonstrates excellent communication and problem solving skills. The Research Coordinator II will report to the Program Manager and Program Directors.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Setting project objectives and creating and maintaining project workplans
  • Coordinating project activities and preparing any required project documentation
  • Leading the implementation of project management protocols for 5+ ongoing DSAA projects
  • Interacting with various departments such as pharmacy, laboratories, medical records, etc.
  • Presenting research related information, including written study reports when necessary and moderate project working group meetings and internal project touch bases
  • Monitoring and tracking project timelines and tasks
  • Maintaining and updating project related tracking documents
  • Maintaining and organizing electronic files
  • Preparing REB documents and applications, as well as research contract forms
  • Supporting the Director of Advanced Analytics with the implementation, coordination and communication of operational initiatives to improve future capacity and efficiency of the Advanced Analytics team
  • Preparing research contract forms to initiate agreements and preparing and submitting any associated invoices for payment related to the agreement
  • Liaising with vendors to ensure the timely payment of software license renewals
  • Preparing forms required for procurement of equipment and services
  • Providing the VP of DSAA with the balances of difference DSAA activities
  • Preparing job descriptions and coordinating the recruitment process of new students and staff

 Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required, Masters Degree preferred
  • 2 years of experience with project management and administrative tasks required
  • Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to learn new skills
  • Familiarity with data science and medical terminology preferred
  • Familiarity with agile approaches to project management preferred 
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills are necessary
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner and flexibility to adapt to changing workload
  • Ability to diagnosis problems and creatively solve issues
  • Professionalism and self-motivation
