University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Administrative Coordinator/Grant Officer in our Grant and Contract Administration Department.

University Health Network (UHN) is a research hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto and a member of the Toronto Academic Health Science Network. Under the supervision of the Manager, Grants and Sponsored Research, the Grant Officer is responsible for coordinating and/or conducting the review and submission processes for a variety of external grant funding programs, and for coordinating and processing the post-award requirements of external grants held by UHN Investigators. Working closely with UHN Research Financial Services (RFS) and other Research Solutions & Services (RSS) Departments, the incumbent acts as a liaison between UHN Investigators and funding agencies, collaborators, research facilitators and administrators.

Duties and responsibilities include: assisting and advising UHN research community on funding opportunities; monitoring funding agency announcements and changes in funding related policies; reviewing and negotiating grant agreements with granting agencies and grant related agreements with third parties; processing such agreements for signature in accordance with UHN policy; and drafting related correspondence.

• Community College Diploma in General or Medical Office Administration or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Five (5) years related administrative support experience
• Excellent computer/word-processing, database and spreadsheet software experience, in a Microsoft Office environment, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and internet searches
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to produce high quality work in accordance with UHN standards
• Ability to work well under pressure and use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Knowledge of organizational/office practices, procedures and standards an asset
• Experience working in a health care, scientific, academic or research environment
