SALARY: $56,175 to $70,219 per annum
STATUS: Permanent, Full Time

University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Law Clerk in our Legal Affairs Department.

The Law Clerk will provide support to the Legal Department and Legal Counsel, Employment and Labour Law at UHN. The Law Clerk will work collaboratively  to support and help oversee UHN’s Legal, corporate, privacy, claims management and compliance programs and services.


  • Support the Legal Department and Legal Counsel, Employment and Labour Law at UHN
  • Administer and further develop legal database and tracking system
  • Organize and ensure the proper completion of contracts, settlements and agreements by engaging appropriate internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform legal research to assist legal counsel in preparing for hearings, arbitrations, labour board and human rights hearings.
  • Prepare correspondence and/or file documents with the Courts, Labour Board, and Human Rights Tribunal.
  • Execute settlement documents for payment.
  • Organize and maintain employment and arbitration files.


  • Minimum, completion of a 2 year College Law Clerk or Legal Administration Program required
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry a definite asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; in particular, the successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of composure with the ability to employ sensitivity, patience, discretion, tact and good judgment when dealing with patients, their families, visitors and staff members
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and maintain strict confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook)
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to demonstrate innovative thinking and a willingness to work on all aspects of a project
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to respond to multiple demands, prioritize work activities and manage expectations of key stakeholders
  • Ability to take initiative and to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to identify legal issues, research and analyze complicated solution and develop and recommend practical and informed solutions in an effective and efficient manner
