Launched in November 2014, enabled by an unprecedented donation from the Rogers family, the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research is a uniquely collaborative research and education program that spans across University Health Network (UHN), the Hospital for Sick Children and the University of Toronto (UofT). The Ted Rogers Centre, following successful completion of its first five-year international review, is now poised to redouble its efforts on ‘conquering heart failure’ through a strategic refresh currently underway. Join us, as we work to provide the world with new diagnoses, treatments, and tools to help people prevent, manage, and survive the devastating consequences of heart failure.

Working with the Executive Director (ED), Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research and the Centre’s Scientific Leads at UHN, SickKids and the UofT, oversee finances, financial disbursements and procurement for the Directorate, as well as quarterly and annual reporting processes for the Centre. Develop and support implementation of strategic and operational plans for the Centre in collaboration with the ED, Scientific Leads, Chairs, Principal Investigators and other stakeholders enabling the Centre’s objectives. Manage projects, funding competitions, committees. Establish, support and manage relationships with strategic and operational stakeholders, including funding agencies, Ministries of Health and policy makers. With the ED and Directorate staff, including a Communications Officer and an Administrative Assistant, plan and support Centre and Directorate activities and communications with partners, internal stakeholders and other institutions. Recruit, develop and support team members; develop and support work processes, standards and SOPs as required.

• Masters’ Degree in Business, Public or Health Administration
• Minimum five (5) years practical and related experience working in a management capacity
• Demonstrated track record in managing projects and planning initiatives such as strategic/operational planning; funding competitions
• Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate and create partnerships
• Demonstrates strong leadership and coaching skills
• Ability to manage tight deadlines and deliverables; some flexibility re hours available required
• Ability to manage multiple priority projects and timelines efficiently
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
• Client service oriented, ability to work with scientists/students/staff
• Experience working with teaching hospitals or other large not-for-profit organizations
• Experience working with funding agencies, Ministries of Health to create and advance policy and support innovation preferred
• Cardiovascular clinical and/or research experience preferred

Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research is a uniquely collaborative research and education program that spans across University Health Network (UHN), the Hospital for Sick Children and the University of Toronto (UofT). While this position currently resides at UHN, there may be an opportunity to have the position reside at SickKids or UofT.
