The Princess Margaret Genomics Centre (PMGC; is one of Canada’s largest genomics services providers. We are seeking a permanent full-time Research Technician III to join our nascent High Throughput Screening (HTS) group. Working under the direction of the PMGC leadership, the successful applicant will lead the roll-out of PMGC’s new HTS system. The duties will include: learning and operating the full suite of automation features, working closely with client labs to adapt low-throughput assays from client labs to the HTS system, maintaining stocks of small molecule and biological libraries for the HTS system, and providing screen QC and simple data analysis in some cases back to client labs. The successful candidate must be extremely detail oriented, knowledgeable, and experienced with the practices of performing a variety of biochemical and live cell screens using automation. The position will also require the development, writing, and implementation of SOPs, HTS campaign budgeting, and client interaction/relations.


  • BSc or higher in genomics, molecular biology or related discipline
  • At least six (6) years of experience with cell biology and HTS techniques such as:
    • Mammalian cell culture (necessary)
    • Principles of HTS data QC and analysis (necessary)
    • Benchtop to HTS assay translation experience (necessary)
    • Laboratory automation (asset)
    • Cell imaging using standard and confocal fluorescent microscopy (asset)
    • Small molecule compound management (asset)
  • A successful candidate will also have:
    • A willingness to learn new techniques and technologies (necessary)
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills (necessary)
    • Ability to work independently and accurately under deadlines (necessary)
    • Ability to interact and communicate with clients clearly and efficiently (necessary)
