Position: Occupational Therapist
Department: Altum Health – Automobile Insurance Examination and Employer/Life Health Insurer Division
Locations: Across Ontario - GTA, Hamilton, Cambridge, Ottawa, Barrie and Surrounding Area
Reports to: Manager of Employer and Insurance Services
Status: Contract / Fee for service

We offer a full continuum of prevention, rehabilitation, and health care services to third party payors and individuals, including Automobile Insurers, Employers and Life/Health Insurers across Ontario, and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).

We are currently seeking an Occupational Therapist with the knowledge and expertise in working independently with the ability to carry out Independent Medical Evaluations, including In Home Assessments, Functional Ability Evaluations, Hospital Discharge Planning for our Automobile Insurer’s Examinations (IE) clients and Work Site Services such as Physical and Cognitive Demand Analyses, Functional Ability Evaluations, Cognitive Functional Ability Evaluations, Return to Work and Disability Management, Job Coaching, Job Site Assessments for Employers and other insurers. Candidates must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment and be able to adhere to report submission timelines of 5 business days.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED for AUTO IE
• In Home Assessments (Insurer’s examination and serious injuries)
• Assessment of Attendant Care Needs, Form 1
• Address Non Earner Benefits and OCF 18 Treatment Plans
• Provide recommendations and link with community resources to facilitate devices/equipment needs
• Experience with catastrophic files preferred
• Functional Ability Evaluations
• Hospital Discharge Assessment for MVA related injuries
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EMPLOYER / INSURER
• Functional Ability Evaluation or Cognitive Functional Ability Evaluation experience in third party environment
• Onsite/Work Site Assessment experience such as PDA, CDA, Job Site Assessments, Ergonomic Assessments
What we look for in an Occupational Therapist:
• University Degree in respective profession as required by the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
• Certificate of Registration with respective College Occupational Therapists of Ontario
• Five (5) years related experience with work related injuries, MVA and or experience in third party health care system, with strong FAE and return to work planning skills, home assessment skills
• Acquired Brain Injury experience preferred
• Excellent time management, organizational and report writing skills
• Compliance with confidentiality requirements
• Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
• Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
